Helping Kids: Send Homemade Holiday Cards. This holiday season, why not extend your warmth and compassion by adding a new recipient to your holiday card list: a child in need. Many children who are battling serious illnesses will spend their Hanukkah or Christmas in hospital care. However, several organizations are dedicated to brightening their holiday season by collecting and distributing card donations. By sending a lovingly crafted handmade card, you can contribute to spreading joy and love to these young warriors.
Reaching out to these organizations allows you to be part of the holiday magic by sending your heartfelt wishes and a little love to children who could use it most. Your simple act of kindness can make a significant difference in their holiday experience, bringing smiles and hope to their hearts.
Cards for Hospitalized Kids: Spreading Hope, One Handmade Card at a Time
Founded by the remarkable Jen Rubino, who knows the challenges of hospitalization firsthand, Cards for Hospitalized Kids is a globally-recognized organization with a heartwarming mission.
Year-round, they gather and distribute homemade cards to children nationwide, bringing smiles and comfort to those in need. Jen’s journey began at the age of 11 when she faced a tissue and bone disease diagnosis, disrupting her life as a competitive gymnast.
A simple act of kindness in the form of a handmade card from a hospital volunteer illuminated the path she would later follow. Today, as a college student at Georgetown University, Jen continues to lead CFHK, having brought joy to over 100,000 kids across all 50 states and counting.
Cardz for Kidz: Spreading Love and Encouragement to Those in Need
At the heart of Cardz for Kidz lies a profound commitment to uplift children, families, senior citizens, and veterans in various care settings, including hospitals, schools, senior living, and rehabilitation centers.
The organization’s founder and president, Ike Nwankwo, initiated this global movement in 2010, fueled by his enduring passion for volunteering and his extensive experience working with patients at C. S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which began when he was just 12 years old.
Ike’s personal journey, marked by his battle with epilepsy and hospitalization, deepened his empathy for the challenges faced by patients and their families on a daily basis.
Driven by this understanding, he has dedicated his life’s work to delivering words of encouragement to young patients through the heartfelt gesture of handmade cards. Over time, Cardz for Kidz has extended its compassion and support to a wider community of individuals in need, spreading love and kindness to those who could use it the most.

Caitlin’s Smiles: Crafting Joy and Comfort for Children in Need
Caitlin’s Smiles, a heartwarming initiative with a mission that began in 2004, is dedicated to bringing the magic of arts and crafts to children facing challenging circumstances.
The inspiration for this beautiful endeavor came from 7-year-old Caitlin Hornung, who tragically lost her battle with cancer in 2000. In her memory, her mother, Cheryl, decided to carry forward Caitlin’s creative spirit by sharing art supplies and handmade cards with other children undergoing their own health battles.
Today, Caitlin’s Smiles has blossomed into an organization that has gathered and distributed countless “Bags of Smiles” – care packages brimming with toys, books, art supplies, and craft materials – to children’s hospitals across the nation.
Whether you choose to contribute a heartfelt card to accompany a bag or provide crafting supplies to help assemble one, you’ll be making a difference in brightening the lives of these courageous young souls.
I See Me! Letters of Love: Spreading Joy Through Personalized Children’s Books
In collaboration with the Children’s Cancer Research Fund, the creative minds behind personalized children’s books at I See Me! have launched their inaugural letter collection campaign This Year, and you can easily join in the effort.
By clicking here, you can compose an e-letter to brighten the day of a child in need. These heartfelt messages will then be transformed into tangible letters and delivered to the kids in mid-December.
What makes this initiative even more heartwarming is that for every 50 letters received, I See Me! will generously donate a personalized “My Very Own Christmas” or “A Hanukkah Bear for Me” book to a child, transforming it into a special gift that will create cherished memories.
